Create Your Own Ultra Wide Entertainment System

Going to the movies has always been an exciting event. Why not bring that same excitement into your home?

To get a truly immersive, ultra wide entertainment experience you will need an ultra wide projection screen (2.35:1 aspect), a high-definition (HD) home theater projector with anamorphic and 4:3 aspect modes, and a CineVista™ anamorphic lens system.

The Lens

The CineVista™ Lens is a horizontal expansion lens that remains positioned in front of your projector at all times (fixed configuration). The aspect modes in your projector allow you to adjust your picture for movie and TV viewing.

You can order the CineVista by itself, just the Lens and Bracket (above left) or as the CineVista Lens System which includes the CineVista Lens, Bracket and Lens Mount (above center). The image (above right) shows the CineVista Lens System on a projector with ceiling mount (not included).

Ultra Wide Aspect Projection Screens

Below is a partial list of screen manufacturers that make ultra wide 2.35:1 screens.  Most screen manufacturers offer a variety of options for you to choose from depending on your room layout and wall space including manual pull down screens, motorized drop down screens, and fixed screens to name a few.

New screen materials are also available that can compensate for rooms that are not completely dark. Gone are the days when a home theater required a dedicated room.  Many theaters today are incorporated into the family room, with a screen that pulls down in front of the TV.  Now that's a multi-purpose room!

For those of you that are familiar with ultra wide systems, curved screens and masking screens can be used with the CineVista, but are not required.

Choose Your Projector

There are so many projectors on the market today, how do you choose? We've designed the CineVista Lens System to work with a large number of projectors, but it was primarily made for less expensive home theater projectors that have the aspect modes needed to use an anamorphic lens.  Below is a partial list of projectors that can be used with the CineVista and their general price range.  We've also included the names of the aspect modes for each manufacturer to make it easier for you to identify which mode to use with your new lens. Models highlighted in green include the new Electronic Color Correction (ECC) technology, featured in our recent press release here.

Mounting Your Projector

The CineVista™ Lens Mount (CVLM) was designed to work with ceiling mounts from two of the most popular mount manufacturers, Chief Manufacturing and OmniMount.  The CVLM is designed to sandwich between the projector and ceiling mount, creating a solid attachment that will easily support the weight of the lens.

From Chief Manufacturing, you can use the following ceiling mounts:

• RPAU universal mount

To see how the CineVista™ Mount attaches to a RPAU mount with Chief's projector specific SLB attachment bracket, please look at the 3D PDF drawing CineVista™ Lens on a Projector. The RPAU with standard universal arms can also be used with the CineVista™ system, however, it may take a little more time to install than using the appropriate SLB attachment bracket.

From OmniMount, you can use the following ceiling mount:

• 3N1-PJT universal mount

Each of these mounts are available at various online retailers or though your local home theater dealer.
